What Happens at Your First Golf Lesson with Rob Boldt in Lafayette.
Booking a first lesson can feel like a bigger step than it is. Maybe you have not swung a club in years. Maybe you play every weekend and cannot shake the same miss. Either way, here is exactly what your first hour at Rob Boldt Golf looks like, so you can walk in relaxed.
Where you go
Lessons are indoors at 3330 Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette. Because it is indoors, rain, wind and summer heat never cancel your lesson. Rob teaches by appointment, daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Park in either of the first two spots on the right, under the overhang. Both are marked for Rob Boldt Golf.
What to bring
Bring your own clubs. If you don’t have a set yet, get one before your first lesson. Wear comfortable shoes. Tennis shoes are fine.
The first few minutes: talking, not swinging
Rob starts with a few questions. What other sports have you played? Have you had lessons before? Do you have any injuries he should know about? And why do you play? Your answers shape the whole lesson.
Then you hit balls, and the technology watches
You hit into the TrackMan iO simulator, the same kind of launch monitor tour players use. It measures what your eye cannot: club path, face angle, ball speed, spin, and where each shot would have landed on a real course.
Rob also uses Swing Catalyst pressure plates, which show how your weight moves through the swing.
The point is not gadgets. It is that you stop guessing. You see the cause of your miss with real numbers, and you see it change.
One or two fixes, not twenty
Rob has more than 40 years in golf, as a tour player and a teaching professional, and he is known for breaking things down so they make sense. A first lesson usually focuses on the one or two changes that will make the biggest difference, so you leave with something you can actually practice.
One student, Jose A., who has taken lessons with Rob for about six years, put it this way: Rob “has the ability to break down things in to a way that you easily understand.”
You leave with a video
After every lesson, Rob sends you a TrackMan video of what you worked on, so you can review it before your next practice session instead of trying to remember it.
What it costs
